The Olympic Force men got off to a rough start on Saturday falling 4-1 to WPFC in the season opener of the EPLWA.
The first 35 minutes went well for the Force. The defense looked solid, they gave up a few chances but for the most part kept the WPFC offense at bay. The attack looked promising as they created a couple of really good scoring chances including a header from a corner that got cleared off the line by a defender on the post.
In the 37th minute things fell apart for the defense for a bit. Over the final 8 minutes of the first half, they would concede 3 goals in quick succession and go into the break down 3-0. Coach Cash made some adjustments at the break and when the Force took the field for the second half things went back to the way they were for the first 35 minutes. Four great scoring chances were just begging for a final touch including a penalty shout before some great link up play resulted in a cross from Alex Hernandez picking out Holton Halfaker who calmly slotted the ball in.
A couple more great chances for the boys as they pushed to get back in the match which unfortunately created a chance on the other end that WPFC was able to put away to finish the game 4-1. "We really didn't look bad for the first half hour and I felt like we were the better squad," said Steve Cashmore. "We played really poorly for 10 minutes and it beat us today. If we can cut that out going forward, we will be fine."
Below are the some game pics from the weekend.
The Olympic Force Men want to recognize Cervesa Modelo as their training and man of the match sponsor. The Men have chosen unanimously to not select a player of the match when they lose as they don't feel that the Modelo logo should be displayed in a consolation manner for a poor team performance.
